Note: Names are rather literal. More flowery names would be more appropriate to the setting.
Acid Rain [Water Element]
Creates a large area where rain acidic enough to eat through cloth, skin, and possibly even bone pours down.
Unwitting Intoxication [Water Element]
Allows the user to splash someone with alcohol, seemingly by accident, and force it to absorb through their skin into their bloodstream. Can be used to distract, deceive, or even to kill if enough strong alcohol is present.
High Pressure Whip [Water Element]
User creates a very thin whip of water under extremely high pressure. Can remain solid for as long as the user wishes. Can be manipulated (moved) via "magic power" rather than relying entirely on physics like a normal whip. Upon impact, can be redirected into a solid, thin stream of high pressure water to puncture a target at the location hit. Can remain intact after such an attack, and masters can wrap it around the section (puncture an arm at the elbow, then bind the arm) to create a bind that is anchored within a target's own body, and can be performed at a distance. Many other applications, as it is water at high pressure and therefore still liquid rather than being solid like ice.
Ball Lightning [Lightning Element]
User can summon and control Ball Lightning. Does not dissipate until it strikes a target. Tends to home toward things that are grounded.
Iontophoresis [Lightning Element]
Works similar to unwitting intoxication, but can be done with a variety of substances. Works by creating an electrical potential across an area of someone's skin and using it to carry drugs into that area. Can be used to heal or harm. Based off of the real medical treatment of the same name. Based off of the principle of electroporation.
Absorb/Redirect [Lightning Element]
User can absorb and redirect electricity through their own body. Applications include touching a computer-type system and completely draining its energy, then redirecting it into someone's face, absorbing a lightning bolt and transferring it to a flux capacitor to power it, and even harnessing one's own electrical potential to power devices.
Take My Breath Away [Wind Element]
Rob the air directly from someone's lungs. Only really works just after they've inhaled, so timing is key. Stuns someone. It's like socking them in the gut. Alternatively, can be used to force air into the lungs and cause herniation, though this should be harder.
Fan the Flames [wind Element]
Named after its principle use, this is intended as an amplification technique for other elemental techniques. In principle it simply is designed to focus an arc of wind toward a specific area containing an element for the sole purpose of making that element more effective in some way. The known effects are:
Fire - Increases the area affected by the fire (fans the flames, gave the technique its namesake). A small stream of magic fire becomes an arc, whereas a static fire is spread to surrounding areas.
Water - Breaks water into many smaller droplets, making it more difficult to avoid the entirety of the water.
Wind - Can be used to amplify wind by using it in the same direction or to create a small cyclone when in the opposite direction.
Lightning - Rapid introduction of oxygen around the lightning causes instantaneous ozone conversion in large quantities. The resulting crack is incredibly loud and can disorient if targets are near enough. Acts like a sonic attack.
Earth - Carves the earth into something more lethal, sharpening and honing an edge. Also balances it better, making it more accurate.
Deep Breathing [wind Element]
Those attuned to wind can train themselves to absorb the minute amounts of energy in the air itself through simple deep breathing. People actually do this all of the time, but normally energy in is equal to energy out, inhale to exhale. This technique allows the wind element user to expel only the air while retaining the majority of the energy it contained.
Earth Meld [Earth Element]
Makes the earth around the user thin mud, allowing them to be sucked under the ground. From there they can move sight unseen. Limited to how long the individual can hold their breath, as their entire being is coated in mud. When the technique dissipates, any mud attached to the character dries to the point of dust.
Fissure-o-Matic [Earth Element]
Through a simple ground strike, the user creates a fissure in the earth starting from the point of impact and reaching to some pre-defined limit based off of their capabilities. Depth is also dependent on capabilities of the user. As an offensive technique, useful only if the fissure can open wide enough and deep enough to swallow the target (closing the fissure is assumed to be part of the technique, but the fissure does not automatically close). Has other uses, such as creating small fissures for easy irrigation.
Fool's Coin [Earth Element]
Primarily used by spies. Allows the user to fashion mud, dirt, stone, etc. into the likeness of any currency they are familiar with, up to and including paper currency if such exists. Heavily artistic technique, though precision and attention to detail are also key to proper use. Fool's Coin turns to dust after an extended period of time, but most of the time all the shopkeeps etc. know is that they are down a little on their books. Not often used for big payoffs as the game is often up too soon after it has begun, if you catch my meaning.
You Give Me Fever [Fire Element]
Used to directly manipulate the temperature of one's own body or that of another. Raising the temperature can cause the affected to break into fever while lowering the temperature cripples the body's immune system. Can be applied in more subtle ways to bring healing or comfort.
Conductivity [Fire Element]
User can impart heat rapidly into any conductive material. Starts at touching distance, but can be done at greater distances by more capable individuals. Can focus the heat into a specific section of the conductive material, rather than having it disperse as normal over time. Uses include heating the edge of one's own weapon, heating the handle of an adversary's weapon, melting an adversary's weapon (highly capable individuals), etc.
Firefly [Fire Element]
Summons from one to many tiny balls of flame that can be manipulated by the user. Uses range from serving as a light in dark places where one is needed to imperceptably starting fires.
